The river is wide and brown and runs swiftly to the south past simple farms where water buffalo idle and gaggles of ducks scramble. Cormorant fishermen pole their slim rafts and hail the tourists leaning over ship railings. Behind the green hills tower the blue and purple, foggy limestone towers. They are fantastic in their variety, and were it not for my paintings, I might suspect I only imagined them.
